1. Why only three minutes?
Because based on peer reviewed scientific research (aka - our gut instinct) we believe that's enough time to get the gist of a person. If you don't believe us, read this.
2. What if three minutes isn't enough?
If you find yourself wanting more than three minutes with the person in front of you, that may be an indication that you should mark the "yes" box next to his/her name on the scorecard.
3. What if three minutes is too long?
Yeah, and you thought three minutes wasn't going to be long enough. That's probably an indication that you should mark the "no" box next to his/her name on the scorecard.
4. What happens to the scorecards after the event is over?
Once tallied, all scorecards will be shreded, incinerated, and irradiated before being cast into the bowels of hell. What happens at speed-dating stays at speed-dating.
5. What should I wear?
We believe that the way a person dresses says a lot about a them. To that end, we suggest you dress as you would to a first date - however formal or casual that may be. Free word of advice: you only have three minutes so make your first impression count!
6. I don't go to Quest church, why am I being asked to participate?
We believe that inter-church activities are a key part of what it takes to maintain the health of the Body of Christ. Throughout his ministry, Jesus advocated for unity and we believe this is a fun way to work make that happen.
7. Will this be an annual event?
Uh...no. Well, probably not. One event at a time.
8. I kissed dating goodbye, can I participate as well?
Well the fact that you're browsing this site says you probably don't entirely buy Mr. Harris' arguments, and besides, he's gone on to write other books where he revises some of the ideas in Kissed Dating Goodbye. We would also like to note that some pin the unfortunate lack of dating activity in some churches on this book. But we won't go there.
In case you're wondering, this is just a long way of saying, yes you can participate.
9. What if I don't know what to say?
In addition to your scorecard, you'll also be given a cheat sheet with sample questions that will range from the everyday ("what's your favorite color?") to the out of the ordinary ("do you believe life exists in outer space?") to the downright provocative ("so, are you a Calvinist or an Arminianist?") so don't worry about it - we've got you covered.
10. Why the age restrictions?
Well, our thinking is, those under 25ish are probably still in college or in social circles where it's relatively easy to find dates. And if you're over 35ish we're thinking maybe you shouldn't be trying to date 24 year olds.
11. Why are you making this an inter-church event?
See answer 6.
12. Can other Quest C-Groups participate?
Okay, the truth is that anyone from Quest can participate but you have to apply just like everyone else. We really want to make this an inter-church event - it's one of the values we hold that prompted us to put on this event (see answer 6) - so unfortunately, being a member of Quest will not assure you a spot on a speed dating table.
